Scott Walker and Artangel’s Plague Songs

The Margate Exodus is a film by Penny Woolcock that re-enacted the Book of Exodus in a future town of Margate. This Artangel film event included many different happenings over a number of weeks, concluding with an evening of Plague Songs, performed by local immigrants. This song cycle was written by such singer-songwriters as Rufus Wainwright, Brian Eno, Laurie Anderson and Scott Walker. This recording, by the original artists, was subsequently published by 4AD and performed live (by the original artists) at the Barbican, London, 2007.
