The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore is the second album by The Walker Brothers in the US and Canada.
It includes four songs released on Portrait, The Walker Brothers’ second album in the UK: Lil Armstrong and Don Raye’s Just For A Thrill, Willard Robison and Dedette Lee Hill’s Old Folks, Curtis Mayfield’s People Get Ready and Leiber and Stoller’s Take It Like a Man. The rest of the album includes A-sides and B-sides from the group’s recent singles, tracks from their 1966 UK EP, I Need You, and a track unreleased in the UK: a cover version of Wilson Pickett and Steve Cropper’s Don’t Fight It, a hit for Pickett in 1966.
The album’s back cover includes photographs of the band on tour, and details of its members. “Scott is Canadian-born, and the moody, introspective Walker,” run the liner notes. “He is, by nature, a reflective ‘loner’, who likes to get away, to have time to himself, to ‘just think’.”
The title track and (Baby) You Don’t Have to Tell Me were released as singles from the album. The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore reached no. 16 in the US top 40 singles chart. The album did not chart in the US.
